WELCOME TO THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CENTRE (ELC)

The ELC offers U of M students:

  • academic English courses and programs to prepare students for university study, and
  • assistance to students already in academic study

The ELC is accredited by Languages Canada. All instructors at the ELC have completed graduate work in the area of Teaching English as a Second Language, and are experienced in teaching English for Academic Purposes.

To enhance success for students, as well as potential students, whose first language is not English by building skills in academic communication in order that they may achieve their academic goals and participate with confidence in The University of Manitoba community.
