Undergraduate Admissions

ART HISTORY

Art History is an Advanced Entry program. This means that students who wish to apply for entry into the BFA Art History program begin by enrolling in University 1. They must complete 24-30 credit hours, the usual number of credits for a full first year, before they can enroll in art history courses. Required courses FAAH 1030 Introduction to Art 1A and FAAH 1040 Introduction to Art 2A provide students with a basic grounding in art history and are included within these University 1 credit hours.

Students interested in the BFA Art History degree program are not required to submit a portfolio.Apply online or download application for the BFA Art History degree program. Final application deadline is May 1, 2012.


STUDIO DEGREE AND DIPLOMA PROGRAMS

Students wishing to be admitted to the School of Art must submit a portfolio of their work in addition to an Application for Undergraduate Studies. This requirement includes students applying for direct entry into the BFA Program and the Diploma in Art Program, as well as students transferring into the program from University 1 or another faculty.

  1. Application for Undergraduate Admission must be submitted separately to the Admissions Office of the University of Manitoba. The application deadline is April 16, 2012. Apply online or download application. All applicants must meet the University of Manitoba's general criteria for admission from high school. For more information contact the Admissions Office.
  2. Artwork Portfolio: Information provided in the portfolio regarding applicant's motivations and experiences with art practice, contemporary art, and art history will offer a better understanding of the applicant and their potential. Criteria in the selection process will emphasize accomplishment as demonstrated in the submitted portfolio application, interest in the BFA program and an assessment of potential for growth as a student at the School of Art.
