LARGE FORMAT PRINTING (346 ARTlab
)

School of Art students, faculty and staff have access to three color managed Epson large format printers with a maximum print size of 64" wide by the length of the roll (see chart below for maximum paper size). To access printers, book an appointment with Digital Technician Trevor Baziuk at soart@umanitoba.ca.

 

PAYMENT & COSTS
The cost of prints is calculated by square foot. The physical size of a print directly affects its cost, so be careful to state dimensions accurately when booking printing.

Payment can be made by DEBIT only in the Large Format Printing area or by cash or cheque in the SOA General Office.

PAPER SELECTION
Approved papers are colour managed and ICC profiled to match the output of each printer in an EFI Fiery XF workflow environment. The following approved papers are currently available for producing photo prints:

XANTE PRINTER (346 ARTlab

The Xante printer is located in the Large Format Printing Room 346. It is a student self-serve workstation used to output Myriad film (film positives) and Polyester plates (max. image size 17.25" x 11").

VINYL CUTTING (346 ARTlab
)top

The School of Art has a 64" Graphtec FC-8000-160 Vinyl Cutter capable of contour-cutting from digital files which must be formatted as vector lines or vector shapes.

We offer 2 vinyl scenarios:

  1. Print & Cut - for projects requiring an image to be printed on vinyl and then cut out
     
  2. Cut only - straight vinyl cutting on either Black or White ORACAL Vinyl
     

The Black or White ORACAL vinyls are available in a matte finish. Coloured vinyls can be special ordered on a project by project basis, a 1 week lead time is required to order coloured vinyl.

CLASSROOM/LAB (340 ARTlab)
MAClab 340 is available for students to use for work on projects when no scheduled classes are in session. Students must have an activated swipe card and be registered School of Art students in order to use the equipment.
