We're Back! Welcome to our first newsletter as RESOLVE. Formerly the Manitoba Research Centre on Family Violence and Violence Against Women, we are now a tri-provincial research network committed to community-university partnerships to find solutions to violence. In 1992, Health Canada and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council announced funding to five family violence research centres across Canada, for a five-year period. In order to improve the longevity of the prairie research centre, based in Winnipeg, it was determined that the scope should be expanded to include Alberta and Saskatchewan. Now, RESOLVE ~ Research and Education for Solutions to Violence and Abuse ~ has offices in all three provinces and is forging strong links with universities and community groups.

The Winnipeg Foundation has graciously given support to the production
of our newsletter for a one year period. Thank you to Rick Lucier
and everyone at the Foundation for their generosity. Contributions
to RESOLVE assist in research, consultation and maintenance of the library.
