University of Manitoba - Research and International - Leading the Way
Leading the Way

Research moves the world forward. The Office of the Vice-President (Research and International) offers leadership throughout the journey—from the initial idea to the final patent. We work closely with faculties, research organizations, governments, and business partners, always building and promoting our research strengths. We also develop and monitor policies and procedures used in our labs, ensuring the highest of standards.

We are home to four units:

The Office of Research Services (ORS) provides support for grant applications and contract proposals. ORS also equips researchers with the latest training through workshops and presentations.

The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) oversees the intellectual property of patents and helps researchers form alliances with local and global partners. TTO also launches start-up ventures, creating hundreds of jobs in the local economy.

The Office of Research Ethics and Compliance (OREC) maintains high standards of animal care during research, teaching and testing. OREC also upholds ethics protocol for research involving humans.

The International Office (IO) coordinates and facilitates the university’s international activities. IO assists with opportunities worldwide, including academic exchanges and research partnerships.
