What is Mitacs Globalink?

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: MITACS GLOBALINK 2017 INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA STUDENTS

Mitacs is a national, not-for-profit organization that has designed and delivered research and training programs in Canada for 15 years. The University of Manitoba is one of 60 member universities working with Mitacs, providing funding to build partnerships that support industrial and social innovation in Canada.

Opportunities Available for Undergraduate and Graduate Students
Mitacs is now accepting applications for competitive international research opportunities for UM student travel.

Partner Countries for Research Projects

  • Brazil
  • Mainland China
  • France (At French universities or Inria Research Centres)
  • India
  • Japan (* See JSPS Internship below)  
  • Mexico
  • Tunisia
  • Graduate students can also apply to the Mitacs-JSPS Internship, which supports travel to Japan for a 10-week research project in Summer 2017.

Length of Projects
Projects last 12–24 weeks and are open to graduate students in all disciplines. Select destinations are also open to senior undergraduates. Funding varies by destination.

Deadline
The deadline to apply is November 9, 2016, at 5 p.m. PST.

What is Mitacs Globalink?

Each year between May and September, Mitacs Globalink brings a select group of international undergraduate students to do research under the supervision of outstanding faculty members in universities across Canada and participate in Globalink organized events such as professional development workshops, and government and industry meetings.

Support for Global Research Interns (GRIs):

- Reimbursement for plane tickets and work/study permits
- Bi-monthly stipend of $200/week for the duration of their internship
- Full medical coverage
- Accommodation and housing
- Globalink Student Advisors (GSAs) mentor the GRI interns for the duration of their stay in Canada
