As the first major research university in Western Canada, the University of Manitoba has been bringing research to life for more than a century.  From the development of canola and advances in wireless communication, to the prevention of Rh disease of the newborn and new strategies for fighting HIV/AIDS, our researchers have made contributions that have had a global impact.

Today, our faculty and students continue to earn an international acclaim in fields as diverse as Global Public Health, Climate Change, Civil Societies, Clean Energy, Water Quality, Healthy Aging, New Materials, Communications Technologies, Disease Diagnosis and Treatment, Aboriginal and Northern Development, Sustainable Agriculture, and Healthy Foods.
