Research at the University of Manitoba has resulted in breakthroughs that have resulted in incredible advances in many fields, including medicine, agriculture, engineering and science. Several examples of these discoveries include:
- The elimination of Rh disease of the newborn which has allowed Rh negative
mothers and Rh positive babies around the world to meet face to face
- The development of canola, now a multi-billion dollar oilseed crop and provides
most of Canada's top edible oil
- Pioneering the development of high performance and miniaturized reflector
antennas
- Establishing a new field that links the arrangement of atoms in the crystal
structure of a mineral to its occurrence in the Earth
- Gaining knowledge about HIV/AIDS through fieldwork in Africa that has evolved
into effective infection control strategies used around the globe
