Becoming a Reviewer for As a peer-reviewed journal, the Canadian Journal of Educational Administration and Policy is always looking for a diversity of educational leaders to provide thoughtful critiques and recommendations about manuscripts submitted to the journal. All reviewers serve as volunteers. In general, reviewers are expected to be familiar with Canadian educational issues and policies, either by virtue of living and working in Canada for an extended period or because of their research focus. Reviewers see only "blinded" copies of manuscripts that have been pre-screened by the editors for general suitability for CJEAP. In doing their job, reviewers receive an electronic copy of the guidelines for reviewers, as well as an electronic copy of the blinded manuscript to be reviewed. Because CJEAP is an online journal, all reviews should be submitted to the editors electronically via email. Normally reviewers are given four weeks to read and respond to a manuscript, though this amount of time is sometimes negotiable. The editors make some effort to match reviewers with topics for which they have previously expressed special interest or expertise, though this is often not possible or necessary. Reviewers are listed publically each year on the CJEAP website. If you are interested in reviewing for CJEAP, please send an email indicating this fact to the Assistant Editor, along with an attached, current curriculum vitae. Indicate in the email 1) whether you have preferences for particular topics within the general area of educational administration and policy, and 2) whether you have any particular topics that you prefer to avoid reviewing, and 3) how many reviews per year you feel able to complete on time. The editor will be in touch with you as soon as possible about whether your interests and background seem appropriate for inclusion as a reviewer for the journal. |
