About Kid-Netic Energy

Every summer, WISE offers week long, science and engineering day camps for students finishing grades 4, 5, & 6 in rural Manitoba. The children will experience many areas of science and engineering through fun and interesting experiments and activities. Each summer rural communities will host the camp. Past locations that have hosted a Kid-Netic Energy camp include: Dauphin, Swan River, Pinawa, and Thompson. Each location will have a week long camp, for 40 kids.

The camps will have an 10:1 camper to instructor ratio as well as a volunteer program for local high school students to act as junior instructors. Instructors for the camp are currently WISE coordinators delivering science and engineering presentations to schools throughout Manitoba. All staff have strong backgrounds in science, as they are science, engineering or education (with science majors) students. In order to comply with our primary mandate of promoting science to female students, we strive to acheive at least 50% female participation rate at the camps.

Kid-Netic Energy is also a proud member of Actua. Actua provides training, resources and support to a national network of local organizations offering science and technology education programs. Actua members reach over 225,000 youth per year. Please visit Actua on the web at www.actua.ca
