Libraries
in Manitoba
Library collections are the backbone of consumer health information
and librarians can often be of assistance in finding information
that is needed. In addition, many libraries have Internet access
were information stored on the World Wide Web can be searched.
The
Centennial Library, the central facility of the Winnipeg Public
Library, not only provide traditional library services to all
Manitobans, through their provincial inter-library loan system,
they also provide some specialized resources for children with
disabilities. Large print books, talking books, books written
in Braille and the 'Bright Sight Kits', kits designed to enhance
the residual sight of visually impaired children are also available.
For
parents, several of the community libraries offer, story telling
programs, library tours and a collection of toys that can be borrowed
for up to three weeks. In addition there are 'Parent Packs'- a
collection of board books, nursery rhymes, cassettes and a video
on reading to children- that are also available for loan.
