Private Financing
Other services (drugs, home care, nursing home care) often involve substantial private financing, although there are also publicly funded plans (varying by province) for some populations (e.g., seniors, those on public assistance, those with particular diseases, and/or those with potentially catastrophic expenditures). The private financing comes through both private insurance and out-of-pocket spending. The Parliament of Canada has described the role of the private sector in the funding and delivery of health care under the Canada Health Act.
