This is a short film about a small group of grade eight students and a teacher with a passion for cinema. The students have all come to Canada from other countries, and their teacher sees an opportunity to intertwine creativity with friendship by beginning an after school "film club."
Most of Film Club takes place with the former club members, now 25 years older, looking back on their teenage experience with fondness and humor.
As much of the film takes place in the 1970's, I do not know if I would use it in a classroom today. While the film's concept is good, I do not know if it would be well received by contemporary adolescents.
Recommended with reservations.
