My Best Friend and Me: A Memory Scrapbook for Kids is the latest in a series by Kids Can Press, including My Baby Brother and Me, My Grandmother and Me and My New Home and Me. Co-authored by the sister team of Jane Drake and Ann Love, this title is a lasting and fun testament to friendship.
Like the others, the book features lots of room to answer questions about likes and dislikes, favorite activities, speculation about future adventures, as well as a place for friends to record their toe prints. A pocket in the back provides extra room for keepsakes such as letters, cards, photos and friendship bracelets. Scot Ritchie's cartoon-like illustrations are vibrant and visually appealing as always, making them a hit with kids and the adults buying the book. The questions are comprehensive and always age-appropriate. It's easy to imagine six or seven-year-olds spending an afternoon giggling and filling in answers. The book is a fun addition to any family library. At a retail price of $5.95, the only question is whether to buy one or two copies. Recommended. Liz
Greenaway has worked as a bookseller and at a small publishing firm,
but is currently enjoying being at home with her kids.
