Reviewed from Final Pages.

Christmas is Coming! is a charming and colourful celebration of one of the major winter holidays. Mrs. Mouse gets ready for Christmas Day by gathering delightful treats and decorations the night before for her two little baby mice. The very short and simple story is done in rhyme and is somewhat reminiscent of Twas the Night Before Christmas.

It is sensational to turn a page to see in the middle of the book a 3-dimensional illustration of a house, a snowman, a Christmas tree, a piece of cake with a fork, and a stack of gift boxes. The kids, and the kids at heart, will certainly squeal with joy as they turn each page. Furthermore, the drawings seem to fully capture the Christmas spirit with the right mixture of boldness and subtlety in colour. It is also amazing to see how much attention the Lamberts put into creating each pop-up with the right amount of frills and decorations. They are perfect as they are. Oh, and you need to look very closely to locate Mrs. Mouse in the pop-up pictures (Hint: She does not appear in the first pop-up!). Though I appreciate the beauty in its simplicity, I wish there was a bit more story and more pop-ups!

I recommend this book for anyone who loves Christmas. And even those who do not like Christmas, well, maybe this book will change their mind.

Recommended.
