excerpt:

“Duck down!” I leaned forward in the sled, with my head between my knees. The seconds ticked by.  I began to get a cramp in my leg, and I wondered how the bobsledders could hold this position while they were rocketing down the track at ten hundred miles an hour.

Cracked is another whodunit thriller by Bossley with the same kids from Swiped. Nick, Robyn and Trevor solve another mystery – only this time it is not happening in their school. Courtney is their classmate. Her brother Josh is an “Olympic-caliber bobsledder” who is competing for the Nationals. He is practicing at Canada Olympic Park and has just lent his bob-sled to his rival bob-sledder Ramsey for practice. Things go terribly wrong during practice. The steel runner in Josh’s bob-sled has been tampered with, and the sled fishtails out of control, leaving Ramsey with a broken wrist. Since Ramsey and Josh are rivals, suspicion falls on Josh, and it is up to the threesome to solve this crime. What is the conspiracy? Is the one who seems to be the villain really a villain?

Cracked keeps the reader engaged, but one does wonder what these kids are doing out of school and their homes, finding counterfeit money and solving coded messages.

Recommended.
