Author Sylvia Funston, former editor of Owl and Chickadee magazines and a recognized award-winning science author, has provided young horse enthusiasts with The Kids' Horse Book. At one time or another, children of all ages, are fascinated by horses. This 72 page book will satisfy even the most curious with its broad range of information on this fascinating animal.The Kids' Horse Book is filled with information about the origin of horses, pony and horse breeds, basic riding techniques, unusual facts, tips on grooming and more. The format entices the reader to either browse, search for a specific topic or read from cover to cover. Although the size of text font and the vocabulary level are appropriate for older readers, the layout and the inclusion of detailed illustrations, full-color photographs and cartoon drawings will appeal to younger readers as well. Features such as a double page spread of “The Horse Up Close," a horse story, puzzles, jokes and a horse board game add further interest. This book is a great addition to home and school libraries for horse enthusiasts of all ages.
