excerpt:
This is a lovely book about "doing your own thing." The watercolour illustrations by Stéphane Jorisch are particularly appealing, with wonderful expressions on the faces of Suki and her classmates. It would make a good "read-aloud" book for nursery-grade 3, and it could also be used to introduce the subject of different ethnic backgrounds. Highly Recommended. Helen Norrie has taught courses in children's literature at the Faculty of Education, the University of Manitoba, and also writes a regular children's literature column for the Winnipeg Free Press.
