Making a World of Difference is a directory of 250 outstanding Canadian women a listing of women chosen for their influence on world issues of survival. The book is a valuable reference for tapping into specific information and expertise. As a beginning of tangible recognition of Canadian women, the directory is not only a celebration of accomplishments but also an inspiration to all Canadian women. At last they may stand up and be counted in their efforts whatever the measure for the betterment of life.

As stated, the directory is only a partial reference. There are many, many more outstanding Canadian women who could have and should have been included. Nevertheless, this directory is a good prototype. The introduction points to the themes chosen: peace, environment, development, and related economic and social justice issues. Following the introduction are featured twenty-three "Women of Distinction" including several women in politics. The profiles are pertinent. Information includes where the subject can be contacted, her skills, areas of specialization, languages, experience, education, recent or representative publications, and career highlights. As added information, where applicable, the major colleague is also noted.

The directory size is 8 1/2 by 11 inches with an attractive four-colour cover. Each page features one profile with adequately suitable graphics, layout, typography and photography, all in black and white. Additional information includes statistics on women Members of Parliament, women leaders of political parties, and women Senators. For added reference a selective resource list is also included.
