The University of Manitoba is pleased to announce that the Associates of the I.H. Asper School of Business have pledged $1 million to support business education initiatives at the Asper School. The donation will be received over the next four years.

“The Associates of the Asper School of Business are among our most respected friends and partners,” says President and Vice-Chancellor David Barnard. “This investment enhances the already excellent student experience we offer at the Asper School and will help attract students who are destined to be future business leaders in Manitoba and around the world.”

“We’re fortunate to have the backing of such a commendable group. The Associates have all personally made significant contributions to the economy at every level,” says Michael Benarroch, Dean of the Asper School of Business and CA Manitoba Chair in Business Leadership. “This funding will allow us to increase the scope and depth of business experience we offer to our students. We’re grateful to have these close partners with the foresight to create excellence in our next generation.”

The Associates’ pledge will support four main initiatives in the Asper School:

  • International student travel awards to allow students to pursue their global learning passions with fewer financial barriers
  • Upgrades to the Drake Centre to integrate state-of-the-art workforce technologies.
  • Creation of an Executive-in-Residence program to provide student mentorship and guest lecturing opportunities
  • Increased graduate student support to help to retain top-quality young people to study and work in Manitoba

“Over the last 30 years the Associates has evolved into a membership of over 260 business leaders who understand the importance of investing in the economic future of this province,” says Joe Cyr, Chair of the Associates of the Asper School of Business. “Our commitment of $1 million in funding over the next four years will ensure that the School can maintain its status as a world-class business school and will have a direct and immediate impact on the quality of the student experience.”
