When the Winnipeg Blue Bombers take the field this weekend in the upcoming Grey Cup game, some might be sporting a Bison jersey under their blue and gold.
Playing in this Sunday’s 99th Grey Cup are former U of M Bison football players and alumni Jamie Boreham [BPE/2006], Don Oramasionwu [B.Comm (Hons)/2009], and Brady Browne [B.A./2009]. Also on the team is Alain Couture is [BESS/05], the Bomber’s Head Athletic Therapist.
“Bison athletes, past and present, are leaders on and off the field and the U of M community is looking forward to seeing these three men help lead their team to victory,” said David Barnard, president and vice-chancellor of the University of Manitoba. “We have a great connection to the Bomber franchise through our alumni and the new stadium currently being built on our campus and this is an exciting time for all of us, Bisons and Bombers.”
The U of M wishes both teams good luck but it hopes to see the Blue Bombers receive their Grey Cup Rings next year at their new home stadium on the Fort Garry campus.
