University of Manitoba president and vice-chancellor Dr. David Barnard has offered his support of the Selinger government’s commitment to post-secondary education in Manitoba.
“We welcome the commitment to post-secondary education and the commitment to research and innovation in today’s Throne Speech,” says Barnard. “These are the building blocks needed to grow the economy and strengthen our province, and we are looking forward to working closely with government to make Manitoba a leader in these areas”.
The University of Manitoba is the largest and most recognized post-secondary educational institution in the province, with nearly 28,000 students registered for the fall term of 2011.
