Visionary Conversations is a new speaker series, hosted by University of Manitoba president and vice-chancellor Dr. David Barnard. The series kicks off tonight, Wednesday, September 14, 2011, with an event titled Apocalypse or Utopia?

Some of the university’s leading minds will share their insight on issues affecting our world and how the decisions we make today will shape our future.

“This series of conversations featuring some of the best minds nurtured at the University of Manitoba builds on our tradition of excellence, innovation and global influence,” explains David Barnard, president and vice-chancellor. “The ideas generated will contribute to efforts in finding solutions to challenges faced by our province and its citizens.”

Visionary Conversations will be held in Robert B. Schultz Theatre, St. John’s College, Fort Garry Campus. There will be a reception in the theatre’s galleria adjacent to the theatre between 6:30 and 7:00 pm. The panel discussion will be from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

Featured speakers for this first event will be: David Barber, Rick Holley, Karen Busby, Michael Freund, Diana Brydon and Brenda Elias.
