CALLING ALL GRADUATES! COME HOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA!
Homecoming 2010 activities include recitals, displays, lectures, tours, teas and gala dinner
From Thursday, September 23, to Sunday, September 26, many activities in honour of more than 181,000 alumni will bring hundreds of classmates together to reminisce and salute the memories and good times they had while attending the University of Manitoba.
There have been more than 181,000 graduates of the University of Manitoba since 1877, and there are 127,068 known living alumni. Of these, 81,321 are known to still live in Manitoba, with 61,120 in Winnipeg.
“This is the 23rd annual Homecoming since the event was revived in 1987 and it keeps growing,” says Jana Thorsteinson, assistant executive director, Alumni Association. “Dozens of classes from as long ago as 1945 are celebrating reunions representing faculties and schools such as Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Architecture and Engineering.”
She adds: “It’s also both the Human Ecology and Geological Sciences centennial, with graduates of the former meeting en masse at the Gala Dinner!”
Planned activities include: campus tours; complimentary workouts in the gyms at both campuses; receptions and luncheons in most faculties; a Gala Faculty Recital in the School of Music; and the 2010 Homecoming Banquet at the Victoria Inn.
