Media Advisory: Using Math to Predict Disease

October 20th, 2009 · No Comments · Health, Outreach, Research

When faced with an outbreak, public health officials want to know how many people will be infected and require hospitalization. They also want to know how many will die and the best strategy to contain the disease.

Please join Dr. Gumel as he shares with the public how he uses math for disease control in the Bringing Research to Life Speaker Series.

Dr. Gumel is professor in the department of mathematics at the University of Manitoba and director of the Institute of Industrial Mathematical Sciences.
