Media are invited to join hundreds of University of Manitoba staff, students and faculty on campus at lunchtime tomorrow (Wednesday, June 10, 2009) for the 2009 Sneakers in motion Day.

The always popular event, designed to encourage the university community to get in the habit of an active, healthy lifestyle during work hours, begins with an enthusiastic group warm-up featuring guest emcees Beau & Tom from 99.9 BOB FM. Special guests include marathon runner Chris Glowach and Kenyan Olympic gold medalist William Tanui, who is visiting Winnipeg to explore Sport Without Borders initiatives.

Following the warm up, participants choose a short or long walk and the chance to go through an obstacle course. After the walk, prizes will be awarded for participants in the Slickest Sneaker, Grooviest Headwear, and Bust-A-Move categories, among others.

Sneakers in motion Day is hosted by the University of Manitoba, in collaboration with Winnipeg in motion.
