Award-winning film-maker Guy Maddin will speak tonight at St John’s College 26th annual Marjorie Ward Lecture on Monday, February 23, 2009, at 7:30pm.

The free lecture, entitled “Stripper Ghosts and Sofa Traumas: The Theft of Infancy’s Lucent Promise,” will be held in the newly opened Robert B. Schultz Lecture Theatre, St John’s College, 92 Dysart Road, University of Manitoba.

In his own inimitable style, Maddin will discuss his autobiographical film-making; his view of the world as a filthy inn; the family home as a place of exile, mortal fatigue, the all seeing Yahweh/mother/father; and the smell of carpet underlay.
