About Winnipeg

The capital of the province of Manitoba, the city of Winnipeg is located near the geographical center of Canada. Built at the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine rivers, it serves as a national gateway via railway, highway and air to eastern, western and northern Canada, as well as a short trip south to North Dakota. A city of approximately 700,000 residents, Winnipeg has a number of beautiful parks and varied cultural facilities. It is the home of the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, Red River Community College, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Manitoba Theatre Centre, the Concert Hall and the new MTS Centre.

Our city has a zoo, a modern convention center, a horseracing track, and professional football, baseball and hockey teams. From numerous large shopping malls to small shops in quaint neighborhoods, consumers have a lot of choices when it comes to shopping. One of the largest multiethnic events is held two weeks every summer; called "Folklorama", our city's cultural diversity is proudly displayed and shared at about 70 pavillions where visitors can partake of ethnic food, dance, music and art.

Winnipeg has become a manufacturing, wholesale and commercial hub. With the rejuvenation of downtown, it is an inviting place to do business, shop, reside and relax. For more information about Winnipeg and Manitoba, please visit the links below:
