Bergen Y3 South End before 2009 construction starts

The Cardiac Surgery Development Project (CSDP) was given the green light to proceed with construction of both the Bergen Centre and Asper Insitute. These projects began on March 30, 2009. Creation of administrative and medical education space on the south end of Y3 Bergen Centre is expected to take approximately 6 to 7 months to complete.

The construction for the space on the main, fourth and fifth floors of the Asper Institute, the patient transport link from Asper Institute to the main hospital, and the upgrade to the Energy Centre also began on March 30, 2009. These other components will take approximately 18 – 21 months to complete.

In the coming weeks and months there will be noise and some disruptions as the construction proceeds. We would ask for patience and understanding during this time. Every attempt will be made to minimize any negative impacts to work and patient areas. To accomplish this, after hours and weekend construction schedules will be used where possible.

Stay tuned for regular construction updates!
