The Online Portal for Advanced Learning, OPAL for short, is a homegrown University of Manitoba designed curriculum management system supporting the Undergraduate Medical Education program.

Facilitating teaching, learning, evaluation, assessment, and communication, OPAL has been desiged to dramatically improve the way that medical education is delivered and underpins lifelong learning for our graduating physicians.

OPAL is an integrated electronic curriculum management system which:

• Offers students and faculty the quality and quantity of knowledge transfer and life-long learning through state of the art information technology in a rapidly changing environment
• Provides all users with access to a wide range of technology devices and platforms while offering a simple, consistent, and intuitive interface for users with a range of technical skills
• Meets the needs of accreditation, reporting, and evaluation for the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences' Max Rady College of Medicine.

Top Hat is a classroom response system adopted by the College of Medicine UGME program which allows faculty, students and administrators to plan, schedule and participate in class polls, quizzes, discussions, and more using a range of commonly used technology present within the modern classroom.

With Top Hat students can submit responses using their laptop, web-enabled smartphone, tablet, or cell-phone with text messaging.  Simply put, TOPHAT is going to change your lecture experience.
