History of Manitoba Women in Medicine

Each year, Women's History Month is celebrated in Manitoba and across Canada as a way of publicly recognizing the achievements of women as a vital part of our Canadian heritage. It provides an opportunity to encourage greater awareness about the historical contributions of women to society. In 2001 this event focused on Manitoba women who made substantial contributions to women's health or who were pioneers in the development and delivery of health care services in our province. The Manitoba Women's Directorate collaborated with two librarians from the University of Manitoba's Neil John Maclean Health Sciences Library - Ada Ducas (ada_ducas@umanitoba.ca), Library Head and Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, and Janice Linton (janice_linton@umanitoba.ca), Aboriginal Health Librarian.
