INTRODUCTION:
The Government Documents collection in Elizabeth Dafoe Library is a full depository for Canadian federal documents. Most of these publications are catalogued.
Some older publications are not catalogued. Below you will find products that can be used to identify
and in some cases access Canadian federal documents, followed by individual federal websites and portals.
DEPOSITORY SERVICES PROGRAM - GOVERNMENT OF CANADA PUBLICATIONS
INDEXING AND AGGREGATORS FOR CANADIAN FEDERAL DOCUMENTS
- Google is good for indexing federal documents, just add a site
qualifier, i.e. H1N1 site:gc.ca to search for H1N1 flu and limiting
to the Government of Canada
- ProFile Index (1973-1978) and Microlog Index (1979-1987) index many Canadian federal documents and make them available on microfiche.
The indexes are stored in the government documents microforms area, as are the publications on microfiche, in full text, covering 1973-1981.

Canadian Research Index (formerly Microlog) indexes federal, provincial and municipal documents, 1982 to present. Links are provided to documents that are freely available.

Early Canadiana Online / Library and Archives Canada provides access
to materials that are pre-1900, including early official publications, reconstituted debates, Early Governors General of Canada,
Colonial government journals, and the Sessional
Papers of Canada for 1868-1900.
