Data on CD-ROMS - Data Library Services

at the University of Manitoba Libraries

INTRODUCTION: Access to data, especially aggregate data, has now generally moved to online access. In the past, cd-roms were often used to disseminate data. Below is a list of the more important data sets that were received on cd-roms. These cd-roms can still be borrowed, by taking the indicated call number to the Circulation counter in Elizabeth Dafoe Library. However, there may be difficulties running them on modern computer operating systems. Fortunately, much of the data from these older cd-roms is now available online, as indicated below. Some of these cd-roms came through the Data Liberation Initiative, which limits access to current faculty, students, and staff of the University of Manitoba, for non-commercial purposes. Other cd-roms came through the Depository Services Progam, which allows access for anyone who walks into the depository library (Dafoe). Often these Depository Services products can be accessed remotely by faculty and students.
