Welcome students and teachers!
This website is designed to be an interactive, multi-media learning
tool. It will help you to learn about:

1. the formation of immigration policy in Canada after Confederation
and before the First World War,

2. the major immigrant groups that made the journey to Canada,

3. and the challenges faced by these new immigrants upon their
arrival in Canada

The site features an historical narrative accompanied by photographs,
journal entries, letters, posters, as well as audio and video clips,
relating to the narrative. The site also features a fun, interactive trivia
game to test your knowledge, as well as a teachers' guide contaning
extra information and activities that may be used in class.

This site is a joint effort of the University of Manitoba Archives &
Special Collections, the University of Saskatchewan Archives and
Oseredok, the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre.
We acknowledge the financial support of the Department of
Canadian Heritage through the Canadian Culture Online Program,
