Biographical sketch: Frederick S. Manor was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1911. He graduated from King Charles University in Prague in 1933. After becoming a British citizen in 1938, he served with the British Intelligence Service during World War II in Africa and Europe. In 1947, he joined the London Times as European correspondent. In 1954, he immigrated to Canada to join the staff of the Winnipeg Free Press as foreign news editor. He became senior editorial writer before his retirement in 1979. He was married to Elizabeth Parker of England. Manor died in Victoria, British Columbia on April 15, 1982.
Custodial history: The fonds was donated to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections by Frederick S. Manor in 1979.
Scope and content: The fonds contains a complete run of Manor's printed Winnipeg Free Press editorials from 1964 to 1978. It also includes the author's unpublished literary manuscript, The Silk Stockings.
