Title: MacDonald Family fonds.

Biographical sketch: John Duncan MacDonald and his wife, Anne, immigrated to Manitoba from Scotland in 1872. John McIntyre MacDonald was one of their nine children. John McIntyre homesteaded and over time, more land was bought around the original homestead, which was then passed on to his descendants. He married Sarah McMillan and they had three children. John Duncan was the second of the three and he married Margaret Greer. They had four children, the second being Robert James. Robert married Edna Thompson in 1948 and they had four children.

Custodial history: Edna Thompson donated the fonds to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections in 1996.

Scope and content: The fonds consists of grain permit books, income tax returns and farm account books belonging to Robert J. MacDonald and income tax returns, bank books, notebooks, diaries and receipts belonging to John D. MacDonald. Also included in the fonds is a copy of the MacDonald family history.
