Biographical sketch: Robert Knechtel was born in Ontario. After graduating in Medicine, he married his wife, Isabel, and they moved to Winnipeg in 1897. He left the practice of medicine and began farming north-east of Souris, Manitoba in 1916. During that time, and after returning to Winnipeg in 1936, Dr. Knechtel attempted to breed improved varieties of wheat. Dr. Knechtel died in 1942.
Scope and content: The fonds consists of one diary in which Dr. Knechtel recorded planting schemes, as well as newspaper clippings pertaining to grain.
