Biographical sketch: Edith Maude Stone was born in England in 1894 and came to Lena, Manitoba in 1922. She shortly thereafter married Robert Johnson. Edith (Stone) Johnson died in 1944 and was buried in Killarney cemetery. Her granddaughter Betty Johnston was born in Lena, Manitoba in 1938. After living briefly in Saskatchewan in the early 1950s, she married Earl Zurba, a bus driver in Sifton, Manitoba, in 1956. In 2002, they were living on a farm in Sifton.

Custodial history: The fonds was donated to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections in March 1996 by Betty Zurba of Sifton, Manitoba.

Scope and content: The fonds consists of the diaries of Edith Maude (Stone) Johnston (1934-1937, 1943, 1944) and her daughter Betty (Johnson) Zurba (1968-1971, 1977). The fonds also contains nine leaves of farm expense accounts from October 1947 to November 1949.
