Biographical sketch: Naomi Hersom was born and raised in Winnipeg, a graduate of the University of Manitoba, and began her teaching career in Winnipeg. In 1989, at the time of the convocation, she was president of Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was awarded an honourary degree from the University of Manitoba for her contributions in the profession of teaching. She delivered a speech at the 110th Convocation ceremonies in 1989 entitled "The Paradox and the Privilege of Being a Professional."

Custodial history: The fonds was donated to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections in 1989 by Dr. Naomi Hersom via Bob Raeburn.
