Title: Centre for Precambrian Studies fonds.

Administrative history: The Centre for Precambrian Studies was established at the University of Manitoba in 1972 through the Department of Earth Sciences and with financial assistance from the National Research Council. The objective of the Centre was to develop research projects dealing with the Precambrian Shield. The Centre also conducted workshops and coordinated the preparation of proposals for research funding on a variety of topics including crustal structures, mineralogy, geochronology and volcanic stratigraphy. In 1984, the Centre was reorganized to reduce its administrative structure and personnel.

Custodial history: The fonds was donated to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections by the Centre for Precambrian Studies in 1985.

Scope and content: The fonds includes agendas and minutes of the Board of Directors, steering and ad hoc committees, contracts and proposals, correspondence, general ledgers, budget and funding reports, and annual reports.
