Annotation: That Greve's untitled, but signed introduction ["Bonn,
Oktober 1903"]
to the two O. Wilde translations "Das Bildnis des Mr. W. H." [pp.5-64] & "Lord
Arthur Saviles Verbrechen" [pp.67-136] actually is his otherwise elusive
publication "Randarabesken
zu Oscar Wilde" becomes apparent in the preliminary pages of the present
book:
there, underneath Bruns publishers' advertisement for Greve's separately
published & fully titled essay-brochure, the
following text is printed:
"Der
ganze Zauber von Wildes blendender Personlichkeit weht durch diese von dithyrambischem
Schwunge erfullten Impromptus, die zugleich die Einleitung zu dem vorliegenden
Buche bilden." --
In October 1903, when Greve wrote this text, he was serving a year in Bonn
prison for having defrauded his friend Herman [sic!] Kilian.
