Bound in orig. green linen, with "HdeB" gold monogram letters on cover. --
Ornate spine with a black title label reading "Honoré / de Balzac / * / Die / menschliche / Komödie" at the top, and the vol. designation "1" in a black, gold-fringed circle near the bottom. --
Title & series title opposite title-page in green, in "Fraktur" type, as is the entire text [unlike the 1908 ed., which used a much clearer type-set, perhaps designed, as were the title, initials, and covers, by the famous British Arts & Craftsman Eric Gill, 1882-1940]. --
