Title: Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences fonds, Canadian International Development Agency (Zambia) Files series

Dates: 1975-1988

Extent: 0.7 m of textual records. -- 6 photographs.

Administrative History: The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) began assisting the School of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Zambia in Lusaka, Zambia, in 1979. The goal of the program was to increase the capacity of Zambia to undertake agricultural and rural programs, to produce trained agriculture students for teaching and research, and to promote Zambianisation of the Zambianize School of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Zambia.

Custodial History: Edna Wooler transferred CIDA Zambia Files from the late-1970s-1984 to Archives & Special Collections in 1989. Material relating to the Agricultural Economics Zambia CIDA Project was transferred to Archives in 1994.

Scope and Content: The series consists of files relating to D.L. Siemens, Associate Dean and Project Director, Zambia Accounts from the Dean's Office, Zambia students in Canada, course outlines, publicity and press releases, equipment purchases, and recruitment and projects. Both colour and black and white photographs and negatives are located in PC 17.

Restrictions: Files labeled "Restricted" contain confidential information and are not available for research without the permission of Archives & Special Collections.
