Administrative History: L.B. Siemens became the
first Associate Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture in 1964. He served
in this position until 1990. Prior to his appointment as the Associate
Dean, Siemens had been an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Plant Science since 1956. He also served as the Advisory for
the Canadian Colombo Plan for Khon Kaen University in Thailand from
1956-[1961?]. J.D. Truscott, who had been on staff in the Department
of Plant Science since 1954, became the second Associate Dean in
[1976?]. Since that time there has always been two Associate Deans.
M.E. Searle served as an Associate Dean from 1981-1986. R.J. Parker
served as an Associate Dean from 1986-1991. Associate Deans served
on committees, were involved in Extension activities and assisted
the Dean in a variety of capacities.
Custodial History: The Dean's Office transferred
records to Archives & Special Collections in 1988. In the following
year, Edna Woolder transferred Len Siemens', Associate Dean and
Faculty and Administration files to Archives & Special Collections.
Scope and Content: The series consists of correspondence,
course outlines and newspaper clippings. Also included are files
relating to: the Discovery of Red Fife Wheat; agricultural extension;
public relations; research projects; continuing education; the Centre
for Settlement Studies; conferences; the 75th Anniversary of the
Faculty; the Alumni Association; and the Colombo Plan for Khon Kaen
University in Thailand.

contain confidential information and are not available for research
without the permission of Archives & Special Collections.
