Title: Morley Young fonds

Dates: 1970

Biographical Sketch: Morley Young was a resident of Cypress River, Manitoba. Cypress River is an unincorporated community southwest of Portage La Prairie.

Scope and Content: The fonds consists of one 7 inch reel-to-reel tape recording which contains oral histories or historic interviews with "old timer" farmers including Mr. Gardner, Mr. Rich, Mr. Young, and other residents of Cypress River, Manitoba and Littleton, Manitoba that were conducted by Morley Young. They discuss homesteading and the very earliest grain farming in the region (1820-1920), hardships, changing economics, social life and recreation, fiddling, and family life.
