Title: First Annual Archives Symposium fonds.

Dates: 1979.

Extent: 11 audio reels: 19 cm/s (7 1/2 ips).

Administrative history: Dr. Richard Bennett, the University of Manitoba Archivist between 1978 and 1998, proposed the Symposium to discuss some of the collections housed in the Archives. The proceedings were held in University Centre on November 23, 1979.

Custodial history: The fonds was donated to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections by Dr. Richard Bennett in 1979.

Scope and content: This fonds contains recordings of lectures on several of the Archives & Special Collections' most important fonds. Donors such as Lillian Allen, Nan Shipley, Craig Stewart, and Jack Murta discuss their own collections. Dr. Brian McKillop discusses Marshall Gauvin, Dr. Paul Hjartarson discusses Frederick Phillip Grove, and Dr. Walter Swayze discusses Dorothy Livesay.

Accruals: No further accruals to this fonds are expected.
