Biographical Sketch: Sir George Otto Trevelyan 2nd Bt. (1838-1928) was a British historian and politician. He served as a Whig member of the House of Commons from 1865-1879. He was the secretary for Ireland (1882-1884) and Scotland (1886 and 1892-1895). He was critical of George III and interested in American Revolutionary leaders. As a historian and author he wrote several books, one of which was a biography of his uncle entitled The Life and Letters of Lord Macauly (1908). This book resulted in his well known four-volume, American Revolution (1899-1907).
