Title: Ken Tacium fonds

Biographical Sketch: Ken Tacium was a senior level
undergraduate student at the University of Manitoba when he wrote
"Margaret McTavish O.B.E." After completing his undergraduate degree
Tacium went on to study law at the University of Manitoba, graduated
with a L.L.B. and eventually became a partner in the Winnipeg law
firm of Tacium, Vincent, Orlikow.
Custodial History: The fonds was donated by Ken
Tacium to Archives & Special Collections in 1982.
Scope and Content: The fonds consists of a term
paper entitled "Margaret McTavish Konantz O.B.E." written for Professor
Gerald Freisen's senior level undergraduate course History of Western
Canada (Course Number 11.472). The fonds details the life of Margaret
McTavish Konantz, Manitoba's first woman Member of Parliament. Of
particular concern are Konantz's political career and her charity
work. Tacium primarily utilized the Konantz papers in the University
of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections (MSS 1).
