Nancy Pyper fonds, 1924-1971

MSS SC 46

10 cm of textual records

Born in Ireland, Pyper became associated with the Abbey Theatre and such writers as Synge O'Casey, Lady Gregory, and Yeats. After her marriage to Mr Charles D. Pyper, newspaper writer and author, the Pypers moved to Winnipeg. Here Nancy Pyper achieved prominence as an actress, director and producer, associated with probably every dramatic group in the city.

Donated by Nancy Pyper, 1971

The collection contains newsclippings and programs from Winnipeg and Toronto, 1924-1971. The newsclippings reflect primarily Pyper's work in the theatre in Winnipeg and the early career of actress Judith Evelyn. The programs describe theatre and music performances in Winnipeg and the history of the Women's Club, Winnipeg. Also included is one letter from Mrs. Pyper
