William H. McEwen 1902- [ ?]

William Howard McEwen was born 7 February 1902 in Owen Sound, Ontario. He received a BSc from the University of Saskatchewan in 1921 and obtained a MSc the following year. He furthered his education by receiving an M.A. in 1924 and PhD in 1930 from the University of Manitoba. He taught at Regina College from 1925-1929. In 1930 he joined Mount Allison University as an assistant professor of mathematics, by 1933 he was a full professor and head of the department. He came to the University of Manitoba in the fall of 1946 to be head of the Mathematics Department. In 1949 he became the Dean of Graduate Studies a position he held until 1964. Upon his retirement he was made professor emeritus in 1967.

The fonds were donated to the Department of Archives & Special Collections by Dorothy Paul in 2003
